WHO Raises Alarm Over Surge in Global Diabetes Cases Linked to Modern Lifestyle

The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a fresh warning about the alarming rise in global diabetes cases, noting that the sharp increase is strongly connected to changing dietary habits and sedentary lifestyles. According to recent data, more people—especially younger adults—are developing Type 2 diabetes due to excessive consumption of processed foods, high sugar intake, and declining physical activity. WHO officials stress that if current trends continue, diabetes may become one of the world’s leading health burdens within the next decade. Public health experts recommend preventive measures such as regular exercise, a balanced diet rich in whole foods, reduced intake of sugary beverages, and early screening for prediabetes. Governments are also being urged to invest in large-scale awareness campaigns and community health programs to slow down the growing epidemic.
