Tesla to Produce Its Next-Gen AI Chips at Samsung and TSMC

Elon Musk has confirmed that Tesla’s upcoming AI5 and AI6 chips will be manufactured by both Samsung and TSMC, implementing a dual-sourcing strategy. Although the physical versions of the chips from each foundry will differ slightly, Tesla promises that its software will run identically on both. AI5 is expected to deliver a 40× performance boost over Tesla’s current AI4, and AI6 may double that—highlighting Tesla’s commitment to high-performance, in-house AI silicon for its autonomous driving and other advanced systems.
